Location:

Page 21 of Alabama Gazetteer. That right :) your Alabama Gazetteer, you don't need the $12 dollars for a Georgia Gazetteer.

Overall Description:

Gilreath Creek is a little itty bitty creek that runs into the East Fork of the Little River on the Georgia border near Alabama. We found this creek by accident of all things. While lost, and looking for directions we asked some locals about another creek and they told us about Gilreath. Imagine a scene out of Deliverance...I'm not kidding they mentioned it first... it got reallllllly quiet for a moment.

The Put-in:

You need to be VERY DISCREET you are putting in someone's yard. You can find it on page 21 of your Alabama Gazetteer , off highway 157, look for Hemphill road.

.

The Put-in.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Take-Out:

The take-out is very close to the Alabama-Georgia line , and you take out on Hwy 48-Hwy 117 (depending which state you are looking Alabama vs. Georgia)

It's small in the beginning before it hits the East Fork of the Little River

Okay now you can take off on Hwy 48-Hwy 117...but keep you paddling clothes on and go huck this "drop"

East Fork of the Little River..............................................................................................................................................................

Just over the border, after you cross the Alabama border, leaving Georgia on Hwy 48, take the first major left and follow it out all the way , you will come to a fork in the road, go right. Then park and huck this drop.

***Warning label***

Whitewater paddling is VERY Dangerous, and you should get instruction before ever attempting even to paddle flatwater. One of contributors to this web site has personally helped bury 3 kayaking friends, this isn't a joke. Whitewater paddling can ruin your life through accidents and can effect your family and friends throughout a lifetime.

The information on this page is incomplete, inaccurate, and very unreliable.   Use with caution.  Whitewater paddling is a dangerous sport and the information here is not a substitute for actual knowledge and skill.  The authors are not liable for your actions. Go ahead and kill yourself if you want to, but don't blame others for you actions and decisions that you will make on and off the river.
