Bill Threatens Fish and Clean Water - HB4185/SB4119
Your Action Needed
Two weeks ago a piece of legislation known as the “Limited Resource Waters” bill was revealed. It represents the single largest threat to water quality and fish that the Federation has seen in the last 15 years. The bill is scheduled to be heard in both the House and Senate Conservation and Environment Committees on Wednesday, March 19th, 2008....it was postponed...to allow more support for the bill.

Subject: NO VOTE :Limited Resource Water Bill (HB4185)

Dear Mr Overby, McCord and Finney:

I am writing to express my view regarding Limited Resource Water Bill (HB4185).

I am against any bill that would allow for any stream with no flow at any time of the year to be piped, cut off, filled in or otherwise destroyed with no legal repercussions or penalties.  This would allow pollution to be possible and it would also mean that prosecution because of would be null in void without repercussions. Also any streambed that quit flowing under any condition including drought could be filled in and this is unacceptable.

Throughout the weekends we use these streams for recreational hiking, backbacking , whitewater ,and other outdoor activities. The Tourism Industry is one of the biggest industries in the state, by passing this legislation this would all but help destroy the Outdoor Tourism Industry in East Tennessee.

Please VOTE NO on bill Limited Resource Water Bill (HB4185).  .

Sincerely,

  [Your Name]
